Evelyn Ramirez: Badging Update (12-01-15)

IMG_0605.JPGIm extremely excited to say this will be my last day of work along with Oksana. After weeks of hard work we are finally arriving to the last day of work. I had an extraodinary time here and I have absolutely no regrets joining it. I was able to meet a number of amazing people and I hope to still see them around. However today we were able to complete a number of task. I myself made a number of catnip toys and other cat toys. This was different though because we were put in a whole new place. We usually work in a room besides the auditorium however we were moved to the hallway. We had two volunteers come in today, one being Symone who was also in the program.

Evelyn Ramirez: Badging Update

IMG_0159Im super enthusiastic to say that we had a number of people drop in today. Two girl came in who came from Payton High School. They seemed very intelligent and worked extremely hard to make some supplies for the program. If you’re interested in taking part of the Teen-Drop in day program you should definably check it out.

The anti-cruelty also runs a number of other programs so if you’re interested in any type of way check out their website. Hopefully well have a few more volunteers next week. Today is also Betty’s last day at work so were down to only Oksana, Symone, and me!

Evelyn Ramirez: 11-26-15 Badging Update

Today was a blast we were able to make a bunch of pins for volunteers today. We made TWO boxes but it felt like nothing because we all worked together. Aqeelah actually came in today as well even though she’s no longer employed. We were able to hang out with a bunch of puppies as well. I held a total of three puppies today and it was amazing these puppies are only a few weeks old. Not only did we work hard but we were also rewarded for it.

We’ve been very lonely the past weeks however Betty’s friend Bryan came in today and helped us out. He’s a really cool guy and I hope next week well have more volunteers. If you’re interested and would like to receive some service learning hours come to the Teen-Drop off day every tuesday at the Anti- Cruelty Society. Not only that but it will also look great on college applications since you receive badges. Please come in next week it’ll be a blast because we bring in puppies!! If you have any questions feel free and email or call us! Until next time BYEE

Evelyn Ramirez Badging Update: November 10

Today was an easy going day for us four girls. Betty was not able to make it in, however we still had a blast together. The Teen Drop in Day has become very quite but we still continue to work hard. We were all able to make a toy or at least begin a toy. Not only that but we also had a few special guest today. Sarah brought in two puppies who were named after german foods along with there siblings. They’re only about five weeks but they are certainly a pair of heartthrobs. There is no doubt that these two little guys will be adopted in no time. you should all Check out the Anti-Cruelty Society and read about the Teen Drop in Day and ways that it can benefit you. Until next time

IMG_1042Sadly no one has came in these past few weeks. However that does not stop us from having a great time while working.

Jolly was actually adopted she was an amazing puppy who Marie fostered.

We also meet some amazing elderly dogs. They were both Chihuahuas but they were adorable and very shy. They’re about 8 years you should all take some time to check them out, please keep in mind they are a bonded couple.

Please take some time to check out the teen drop in days! We’ve been a bit lonely thank you and until next time.IMG_1031

20150929_174940-1Sadly, no one came for the teen-drop in day today. That however did not keep us all from working.

Oksana and Symone were able to clean out the whole closet along with Aqeelah’s help.

Hopefully we’ll have a better turn out next week. You should all check out the Anti-Cruelty Society website and see if we have anything that interests you. Our After School Program is also starting and I’m very excited to see all their new faces.

hhToday we had a great turn out in the Teen-Drop in Day. Seven different kids came in today, a new record! All the kids are doing great wasting absolutely no time. Three of the volunteers even came earlier just to volunteer. One of them wanted to meet a cute puppy today, but sadly we were not allowed to bring one out. Hopefully they’ll allow us to bring out a pet next week. We were also able to create 7 CCOL accounts just today and they were all given a badge. It’s pretty safe to call this a success!

Badging Update: Evelyn Ramirez (8-31-15)

pppppToday when I arrived at the Anti-Cruelty Society I was surprised to see that the auditorium was full of people for the Teen-Drop In Day. We had a great amount of volunteers and made multiple toys for the animals in the shelter. One of the volunteers even made two cat scratchers, which is great due to the fact that we really do need cat scratchers. These volunteers were also much more prepared than our past volunteers. They brought their own materials and worked very hard wasting no time at all. I hope we have more volunteers when the school year starts. Until next week.

Badging Update: Evelyn Ramirez (8-26-15)

Today Aqeelah and I started off the day a bit slow. We began the day off by preparing all the supplies for the Teen Drop-In day.  We waited for about an hour, however two young girls came in to volunteer. They did phenomenal, they accomplished approximately 21 hours worth of donations. They were very productive and most definitely on top of their game.IMG_9158

While we were working on the donations we played movies which was a great way to relax while we worked. We even had a surprise appearance from guy. The cats at the shelter are going to receive a great amount of donations today thanks to the girls. Hopefully next week we’ll have more volunteers but today was great. I’m excited for next week until then.
